In a genre like metal, where the majority of vocalists sound very similar, singers who break the mold are often chastised or ignored.

Who are some great vocalists that you think have been unfairly written off?
Heres a few off the top of my head. Im sure there is plenty more, and many that I have not yet heard but would like to check out.

King Diamond
Dave Mustaine
Mike Scalzi (Slough Feg)
Dan Beehler (Exciter)
Paul Di'Anno (yes, there are some idiots out there who hate early Maiden due to Di'Anno) Shocked
David Wayne (Metal Church)
Dagon- Inquisition

who comes to mind when you think of an aquired taste in vocals?

Mark Shelton took me a few listens to warm up to, but now I love his voice.

Some people like Lee Dorrian, but I really can't get into his voice, even though I've tried to appreciate it.
