I just recently discovered the greatness that is Root's "The Temple in the Underworl".....don't know how this slipped under my radar for so long.

What other albums of theirs do you guys recommend? I looked at their metal archives page, and opinions seem to vary widely....looks like their style changes quite a bit as well.

Any opinions are appreciated.

honestly, it's good music but I can't stand the gayness of big boss that's why I was never a fan.

Temple... is by far the best IMO, but they are all good in their own way. Zjeveni and Hell Symphony are great for a more raw style, and The Book and Kargeras are great for a more melodic approach. Temple is kind of smack in the middle with a completely unique sound, which is why we chose to do the 2LP release of it.

First two albums Zjeveni & Hell Symphony are great in terms of rather simple black/death metal (this sounds almost ridiculous being aware of all that really primitve garbage today)

The Book, Kärgeräs and Black Seal are ingenious in terms of beautiful & chilling avantgarde dark art.

Temple... is somewhere in between.

I can't really stand both last albums...

Looks like I will have to check out everything !
I love the atmosphere on "The Temple...". Totally occult. Gives me somewhat of a Mortuary Drape vibe......

yeah, I love his voice.... it makes every track unique. He sounds like Attila on a few passages as well.

Hell Symphony is definitely my favorite, such a unique black metal record.
Zjeveni and Temple are 2nd and 3rd I would say, I guess I prefer the more ferocious stuff. Not that any of them are bad records though.

He sounds more raw on the earlier material, but still great

Dont hear all albums, but of course early stuff rule suprereme! Anyway even Black Seal is nice album, if you dont compare this to Zjeveni or Hell Symphony.

For me the demos with Dr. Fe on vocals are better than any Big Boss material. It's so damn primal and retarded in a good way.

Last good album was "madness of the graves",I can't stand the newest music of this band, its boooring and way too modern,shame...but old records are classics,no doubt about it,and personally I don't give a fuck if Big Boss is gay or not,he's one of the most original and possessed vocalists in metal.
