Last thing I heard that they went on tour with Ad Hominem. Great idea: When your career lies almost in the gutter, then go for the NSBM-crowd.

Yes, I’m sure Marduk’s career is in the gutter; the immense ‘NSBM crowd’ as you call it is their only hope for redemption. In a year or two they should be playing pop music. Rolling Eyes

They are at their strongest ever right now. Rom 5:12 and Wormwood is their best material since Dark Endless.

I wouldn't even compare this releases as there have been so many different incarnations of Marduk in between. But haven't heard these new records as I lost interest in Marduk years ago. So maybe you're right.

Wormwood is at least as good,if not better than rom 5:12,and that means it should be purchased

Rom 5:12 and Wormwood is their best material since Opus Nocturne.

MARDUK - still better than most of the crap talked about on this board.

I liked Nightwing. Embarassed Having just purchased Opus Notcurne, I think it's my favorite. It's the first album of theirs I've heard, barring Nightwing, that didn't sound an iron piston on crack.

After a long time of listening to Marduk, I have to say that Opus Nocturne and Plague Angel are their most solid black metal releases, Romans 5:12 would follow after that. 99% of Legion-era is terrrrrible.

I suppose it goes without saying that World Funeral is everyone's least favorite, right?

It seems you've got a point actually.
Am I the only one that thinks Opus Nocturne is a generic all-out fast album with very few variations? There's an audible involution between "Those of the Unlight", which is a hell of a classic album, and "Opus Nocturne".

I agree. Those of the Unlight is vastly superior to that one. But it's those variations like MATERIALIZED IN STONE (the best!!!) that keep the album in my shelf.

Which reminds me, Live in Germany had a killer version of that song. Should finally get it. And I strongly prefer Legion's grating voice to newer Marduk...
