IRON MAIDEN? When are you born? Even some people I know that never were into HM and listen only to BM, Dark Ambient, etc, know about them.

I don't like so-called classic bands, especially if it is Thrash or HR. But here, we are in poserland.

1988.

I had listened to all the albums as a kid, but I never got into it. Not a fan of heavy metal in general either.

Iron Maiden is a monstrous band, right on the third place in metal history after Metallica and Sabbath, but I never really cared about them.

I can understand this. What I can't understand is people into Metal since years that never ever took one hour to listen to one single MAIDEN record.

No, to, that would be stupid.

But there is a lot of newcomers who don't think they should listen to the legends.

I have some friends that are massively into Clandestine Blaze, Ofermod, Antaeus, Pseudogod etc, but find Maiden, Metallica, Slayey, Megadeth etc. garbage. Even the early records. That's just stupidity.

^ I find it's common that people in our age group tend to do this. Classics should at the very least be respected.

Megadeth & Slayer. Might give them another go, though, as I'm listening to a lot of similar sounding stuff these days...

Thinking of it, I'm realizing I've actually never listened to an Iron Maiden record.

Never was really too big on Satyricon. I hear their early stuff is decent but I haven't bothered to check it out. To me they sound like a goth rock band only more boring, although I do respect Frost for being a prolific black metal drummer and enjoy his work with some of his other projects.

I don't get the appeal of Ghost B.C. either. I remember hearing someone describe them as "Scooby Doo chase music", a description I found more entertaining than the band's actaul music.

In the non-metal realm the same goes for the Notorious B.I.G. and Tupac Shakur. Don't get me wrong, I love rap music, but I just see no reason why those two are so damn revered by the masses.
