CULTES DES GHOULES - Häxan
TEITANBLOOD - Seven Chalices
KATHARSIS - Fourth Reich
PESTE NOIRE - Ballade...
RIDE FOR REVENGE - Wisdom of the Few
GOATMOON - s/t
ARCHGOAT - Light-Devouring Darkness
BEHERIT - Engram
VOMITOR - Cry from the Underground
D666 - Defiance
THE PRODIGY - Invaders Must Die
EVIL - Hammerstorm (allthough I was little disappointed about the sound, not as harsh EVIL used to have, still a very good album though)

Also new GRUNT album sounded pretty promising, and pretty sure that the new GOATPENIS will be the best album of 2009, if it gets released before new year.

Maybe BARATHRUM's Long Live Satan and SIXX demo should be mentioned too, even if they're both old recordings..

I love threads like this because I learn about all of the great stuff I missed throughout the year...

Here are some that haven't been mentioned and deserve it IMO:

maudlin of the Well - Part the Second (Prog/Avant Rock)
Urna - Ad Lucifarum (Psychadelic/Experimental Funeral Doom)
Amesoeurs- Amesoeurs (so shoot me... Blackened Shoegaze/Post-Punk)
Gösta Berlings Saga- Detta Har Hänt (Progressive Rock)
Siena Root- Different Realities (Psychadelic Rock / Middle Eastern)
Sunn O)))- Monoliths & Dimensions (DRO)))NE)
The Decemberists- The Hazards Of Love (Progressive Folk Rock)
Blut Aus Nord - Memoria Vetusta II Dialogue With The Stars (Black Metal ... Has anyone listed this one yet?)
Mono- Hymn To The Immortal Wind (Post-Rock)
John Zorn- O'o (Avant-Jazz)
Ahab - Call of the Wretched Sea (Funeral Doom)
Thy Catafalque - Róka Hasa Rádió (Avant-Garde Metal)
The Ruins Of Beverast - Foulest Semen of a Sheltered Elite (Black Metal)
Caïna - Caïna (Post Black Metal)

I'm pretty sure no one listed any of those yet but if they did, I'm sorry.

I completely agree with most of that...LFDGD is my fav as well...they even have the album at a pub I frequent, haha. Idle Blood, though is one of my favs off the album...Also one of the very few Anders wrote on the album...It's very heavily written by Jonas, which isn't a bad thing imo.

I guess I shouldn't say I don't like the song.... it just reminds me so heavily of mellower Opeth songs. Jonas sounds just like fuckin Akerfeldt on the song !! I don't want to hear Opeth, I want to hear Katatonia Evil or Very Mad . Great album anyways...MUCH better than TGCD, which had about 4 great songs and a lot of filler...with too many nu-metal tinged riffs.

I hear where you're coming from. I just thought it was a cool approach to a Katatonia song, something they never really tried before. I think Longest Year, New Night, and Ashen are my favorites.

And yeah, TGCD isn't that great. Some cool moments here and there, but def not their best material.

The b-sides for TGCD are better than the album.

I absolutely love the new album, it's one of my favorites of '09. The atmosphere is so thick and there is so much detail... I like the proggy direction they're going in, but that's a personal taste I guess.

I also loved TGCD, however. Actually, I'd say it's my favorite Kata album next to BMD!

Tons of detail. I hear something new every time I put on NITND. Def a contender for their best effort yet.

Few more words about this release please! I found this in one distro, and not sure to get in right now, or later.

Heavy Metal Bulldozer was a disappointment for me, after waiting for it for quite some time and getting excited after hearing the excellent new track from the Sabbat Split, I expected something around those caliber.

Second for that. HM Bulldozer sounds even not like NOWBHM but like hard/heavy in some moments, I dont say that's bad, but also waiting for something a bit different.

Probably the catchiest Gravewurm songs i have ever heard. Way better than the Funeral Empire stuff IMO. Wintress is some kind of weird doom/dark metal. Definitely unique. Check them here: http://www.myspace.com/wintressdoom
Get it ASAP!
I know Tomasz from TBT records got some copies; so it would be cheap for you to get a copy within Poland.
If you can't do that, buy it from Kevin directly. They also just put out a DVDr from their Boston 2008 show. Currently waiting on that one myself.
