1. Ares Kingdom - "Incendiary"
2. Funeral Mist - "Maranatha"
3. Metalucifer - "Heavy Metal Bulldozer"
4. Absu - "Absu"
5. Harbinger - "Doom on You"

Some other good ones this year where the new Razor of Occam, Splatter Whore, Putrid Pile, Goatwhore, Kult ov Azazel and Gravewurm releases.

Still have yet to hear the new Katharsis, Father Befouled split, Behemoth, GWAR, The Chasm and Teitanblood, all of which are on my list, and probably some others I'm forgetting. I'm still working on stuff from 2008 though.

This year definitely had a lot of great releases, I dare say this year was better than last. I'd also would like to add Agrath "The Fall of Mankind" to the list. This was a very overlooked release since this obscure band is not known to many, but people would agree with me if they saw them perform in NYC along Destroyer 666 and Celestia. Check it out!!

This thread is premature. I fully expect the new ARES KINGDOM to be the best of 2009, and I haven't heard a single track yet.

I'm surprised Diocletian isn't on more people's lists.

That would be on my list if the production would have a rougher edge. Now it sounds a little boring.

I agree, the material is fucking fantastic but it sounds neutered compared to the releases prior. At first I thought it was like a cool haze-ish sound, but after going through it more times I couldn't help but feel that it was really just dull production. It's for that reason (plus the boss narrative) that I prefer Order of the Ironfist from Decimator to The Ironfist, though either would count as my favorite Diocletian tune.

That being said, it's still top 5 for me.

Teitanblood - Seven Chalices
Weapon - Drakonian Paradigm
Villians - Lifecode Of Decadence
Sixx - Sister Devil
Hatred Surge - Deconstruct
Harm's Way - Reality Approaches
Integrity / Creepout - split
Secrets Of The Moon - Privilegivm
HOD - Serpent
Nails - Obscene Humanity
Beherit - Engram

Not sure which I'd pick if I had to choose only one. I also missed out on that Diocletian - Doom Cult...I can't seem to find a copy of it anyplace for a reasonable price.
