Do EPs count? I can't stop listening to the Ascended EP lately.

Also, I'm humbled to see our two releases from this year on a few lists here. Thanks for the support guys!!

1. Ares Kingdom - "Incendiary"
2. Funeral Mist - "Maranatha"
3. Metalucifer - "Heavy Metal Bulldozer"
4. Absu - "Absu"
5. Harbinger - "Doom on You"

Some other good ones this year where the new Razor of Occam, Splatter Whore, Putrid Pile, Goatwhore, Kult ov Azazel and Gravewurm releases.

Still have yet to hear the new Katharsis, Father Befouled split, Behemoth, GWAR, The Chasm and Teitanblood, all of which are on my list, and probably some others I'm forgetting. I'm still working on stuff from 2008 though.

I agree that the Goatwhore album was really good and the guitar tone to me stands out a bit more than on the prior album A Haunting Curse.

Some releases I have been enjoying this year:

Legions of Astaroth- Rites Of Somatic Death
Tenebrous - Opus Magnum
Inferno- Black Devotion
Grave Miasma- Exalted Emanation
Beherit- Engram
Gravehill- Rites of the Pentagram
Funebrarum- The Sleep of Morbid Dreams
Nazxul- Iconoclast
Scythian- To Those Who Stand Against Us
Weapon- Drakonian Paradigm
Destruktor- Nailed
Satans Host- Power Purity Perfection 999
Endstille- Verführer
The Ruins of Beverast- Foulest Semen of A Sheltered Elite

This year definitely had a lot of great releases, I dare say this year was better than last. I'd also would like to add Agrath "The Fall of Mankind" to the list. This was a very overlooked release since this obscure band is not known to many, but people would agree with me if they saw them perform in NYC along Destroyer 666 and Celestia. Check it out!!

I completely agree with most of that...LFDGD is my fav as well...they even have the album at a pub I frequent, haha. Idle Blood, though is one of my favs off the album...Also one of the very few Anders wrote on the album...It's very heavily written by Jonas, which isn't a bad thing imo.

I guess I shouldn't say I don't like the song.... it just reminds me so heavily of mellower Opeth songs. Jonas sounds just like fuckin Akerfeldt on the song !! I don't want to hear Opeth, I want to hear Katatonia Evil or Very Mad . Great album anyways...MUCH better than TGCD, which had about 4 great songs and a lot of filler...with too many nu-metal tinged riffs.

I hear where you're coming from. I just thought it was a cool approach to a Katatonia song, something they never really tried before. I think Longest Year, New Night, and Ashen are my favorites.

And yeah, TGCD isn't that great. Some cool moments here and there, but def not their best material.

The b-sides for TGCD are better than the album.

Longest year is indeed my favorite at the moment, closely followed by Niphilim.
And yes, the b-sides are better than most of TGCD...especially Dissolving Bonds. I was very happy that they played it live in Chicago last year

Yeah, thats the only release on the horizon that I feel will be on the list for sure.

agreed. Although provided they come out in time the newest Blasphemophagher, Nocturnal Graves, Vomitor and Impetuous Ritual releases should be quite good too

Like last year there is plenty of what to choose for so I will count only 3 best ones. I still have so many to check out like Church of Misery, Portal, Cauldron Black Ram, Absu, Arckanum, W.A.I.L. and more...

1. BEHERIT - Engram

Definetly best one for me! Fucking Evil Black Metal. It's so nice to see how old Guru Holocausto still brings new ideas on and nonetheless so what True Black Metal is! HAIL BATHORY! HAIL BEHERIT!

2. Katharsis - Fourth Reich
3. Teitanblood - Seven Chalices
