Talking purely of aesthetics here, not the music...

just a few off the top of my head...

Golden Jacket Award:

1. Purtenance - MCMXCI - MCMXCII (The Crypt)
2. Master's Hammer - Ritual/Jilemnicky Okultista (NWN!)
3. Circle of Ouroborus - Islands (Infinite Wisdom)
4. Mythos - Moulded in Clay (Nuclear Winter)
5. Destruktor - Nailed (Hells Headbangers)

Possible pending top 5 releases:

Sigh - Infidel Art (The Crypt)
Desaster - 20 Years of Total Desaster (KBTMT)
Rippikoulu - Musta Seremonia (Svart)

Flaccid Jacket Award (shittiest releases)

1. Molested - Blod-draum (Galgenstrang)
2. Rottrevore - Iniquitous (boot)
2. Slaughter - Fuck of Death (Hells Headbangers)
4. Wombbath - Internal Caustic Torments (Letargo/boot)
5. Many others too shitty to distinguish

Best new vinyl label:

1-5: The Crypt

Hows about yours?

I was slighly disappointed on the Nespithe LP, somewhat cheap looking release overall and I don't like splatter vinyls at all, also would've liked to get some insert with lyrics etc.. Well, could be worse and still a great thing to get this masterpiece on vinyl.

Great looking releases that come to my mind first, have been all Satanic Skinhead Propaganda releases as usual. Also I really like the idea that not any die hard editions, all copies are the same (even if most of the releases are nothing too ordinary looking, heh.). Also Kneel Before the Master's Throne did pretty good job with those Barathrum LP's, can't wait for Infernal and Eerie on vinyl, argh.

The WELTENFIEND boxset, really amazing. Postage must be a pain inthe ass to most Americans onhere though, but believe me, it's worth it!

As for Satanic Skinhead prod. I thought that Nyogthlblazedthitsz LP looked rather shitty with just the LP and 2 A4-inserts.

Still, NWN tops everything so far!

I liked the NYOGTHAEBLISZ LP SSP put out this year, it's primitive and works for me, also the tape boxes SSP released are really nice, although bit overpriced, one of the best label around at the moment.

Worst are all useless (i.e. all) die hards, fuck off stamp collecting homosexuality and all I_LOVE_PENIS-faggots.

I think the presentation of the Volahn LP was pretty bad, although not as bad as some listed here (and of course it is really just a matter of Klaxon's minimalist approach to everything).

I agree on the Purtenance reissue, and I add the Cultes Des Ghoules DLP. Amazing presentation. And despite the fact that so many complained about the single sleeve, I really like the Teitanblood DLP design.

NYOGTHAEBLISZ LP shouldn't be mentioned here. It doesn't have a package. It would be a sad and poor vinyl world if every album was just the vinyl and a piece of paper.

This. I liked it very much as when reading most of the topics here, it seems like people are more interested about the packing than the music itself. And this release included CD. I rather take a CD than some useless patches or coloured vinyls. I like good packings and special things, but for some people it seems to be most important to get (or to release) the coloured vinyl even if you have to buy all kind of shit to be able to get such version.

Well, the best vinyl-versions for this year:

GBK/Absurd/Sigrblot Split boxset

One of the worst, although I must be the only one thinking like this:

Master's Hammer: Ritual / Jilemnicky Okultista 4LP <- it's like those glossy pictures little girls collects.

I guess the best vinyl-labels these days are: Dark Symphonies, great looking packages and no useless cult-versions. And also Kyrck, they've dig some hard to find (mostly) Norwegian-material and released them on vinyl.

EDIT - Forgot Detest, I like the more primitive approach.

Tribulation- The Horror
Bleak House- Suspended Animation
