This same conversation came up in another thread about a month ago. It might have been in the resources thread.

From what I remember, I think it was said that getting a flexi made these days is impossible.

Indeed i think it was mostly a japanese thing, i have "Doom" (jpn) first single in flexi, but i never dare to play, it looks so fragile.
also have the GISM russian ons and the sound is horrible.

I did quite a bit of research online about where to get Flexis made. I can't remember the places I found that did do it, but they were outrageously priced.

In the 80s and 90s, Flexis were simply an inexpensive option for low-fi singles. Imagine them as a step above (or below) cassette tapes. Nowadays, the demand for them is almost non-existent. So the companies who still manufacture them, will charge you a fucking arm and a leg to make a few.

Long answer to short message, "Good luck." Laughing

EVA-TONE here in Florida was the nearly-exclusive flexi producing company throughout the 90's. they were notorious for refusing to make records for stuff they deemed offensive as the lady in charge was very serious about christianity. they stopped altogether in 2000.

but your bands idea for a flexi is not a botched dream, as www.erikarecords.com will have them available in early 2010.

the demise of EVA-TONE was when they even further killed their underground market by only allowing pressings of 2,000+.

i'll agree with dronevil, lathes are the way to go for tiny, nearly private pressings.
