It's probably worth a stupid amount on eBay... if it's size Large I'd happily trade something cool for it. _________________

100% true. When I was in germany in 1999 and a couple of times after that It was a dream come true. Basically every little shop had a lot of 'common' vinyl, at least there, but the first time I came back with 150 lps. All for my collection, maybe 1 or 2 extras of stuff I just could not leave behind for the cheap price. I did spend a lot of cash since I was buying rare shit too. I had been looking for Dark Angel 'Time Does not heal' 2lp since 1990 here in the states and no dealer ever offered it and I had no contact in the UK that would supply such records. It was $10. Even today, go on to discogs for this record, there are a lot of copies for varying prices, not one of them is a seller in the US for the original press. You just cannot find that record here except randomly. I guess the only copies around these days is some modern reissue.
If I had been buying death and black stuff just to save for some future day to resell I could have bought piles of records...

Ive noticed a lot with the US market because of the size of the country and the population here a lot of the good vinyl is harder to find or more expensive when you find it. Especially now with there being more demand due to the popularity of vinyl and the younger generation and the resurgance of older styles of thrash, heavy, doom, and death, which conveniently has coincided with the ease of accessibility from the internet. Also in place the high cost of shipping from european and asian countries means a lot of us kids in the US are buying individual records domestically. All these factors make even the simplest vinyl more expensive here because you're stuck with either paying the lower german price (and getting killed by the shipping) or paying the inflated USA prices and either coming out the same or slightly less if you're lucky. Larger country and population makes for the higher demand of these albums that otherwise are more obtainable in other parts of the world for a fair cost.
Hopefully i can make it back to germany one of these days and go record shopping with as much cash as i can carry.. Sometimes its not about "scoring" but just being able to fill out your collection. Plus its a lot more fun than buying online and paying the equivalent of your flight ticket in postage for the same 100+ records. I saved $1,200 US last time i was in germany, maybe $200 was spent on the food for the couple weeks i was there, and at least a grand was dropped on records alone, and that's nothing compared to what i could have spent given all the essential (and cheap) albums i also had to pass up to avoid going broke the first day i was there. |

| Not really all that relevant to the thread topic, but has anyone ordered from eBay user 'gorestoreny'? Interested in some of the posters they're selling, but I don't want to bother if they're shit quality. |

Not sure if I got it right due to the lousy English in the description, but it seems like the cd is scratched/doesn't play. Not exactly what I'd call a great deal in that case. _________________ Thread derailed

Yes, the cd is fucked up. I qualified my statement by saying "if it was mint." |
