I find a lot of their songwriting catchier and more memorable than most "mid paced raw bm" bands. Especially considering their output. I don't have everything they've done, but plenty of their records get multiple spins, be it full length, ep, split etc...

i noticed also that when corvus joined, its almost like their songwriting and production got worse. thats usually the opposite of how things are supposed to go.
In my ears the production only got better. I haven't heard all from their early era of course, but when we think of "Haudankylmyyden Mailla" or "Sudentaival", they have that certain clinical studio sound, more or less. Somehow it has always put me away from listening to those albums.

Instead, I have been fan of Horna since the very beginning of the Corvus era, meaning "Viha ja Viikate" if I'm right (?). Not only the production went better in my opinion, but also the vocals went to another level (Nazgul style fits more Satanic Warmaster after all, I think), and also the songwriting has been quite unique ("EESE" being a good example).

If they quit now (well, after the tour), at least it wouldn't be the worst time, because they just recently played a 15 year anniversary gig and released a live album including material from the whole era. After all it wouldn't be the end of their sideprojects: Black Stench is Shatraug's best project at the moment I think, the debut album from last year is magnificent, one of the best of 2009.

09.02.2010 The line-up situation

The feeling I have right now can only be described a shock. Despite all, being prepared for the possibility, hoping for another way - Corvus may be gone. The spirit of the band is broken, torn and scarred. Planned gigs will be done but what remains is yet to be seen. At the moment it feels like there will be no album without Corvus, just doesn't make any sense.

Morbid Savouring!

In my opinion Sargeist is his best, followed closely by Mortualia and Blutschrei/Finnentum.

Of the recent stuff I like Sotahuuto a lot. Pure Bathory - s/t tribute, even better than Hellfire.

Go with "Sanojesi Äärelle" the double album from 2008. It contains a great mix of all their styles...catchy as hell too.

This seems to be a band where the side projects are all better than the main band... by the way, any news on Hoath?
The full length was brilliant in my opinion.
