If you were young in the 90's and from the Lowlands than Thunderdome can only mean one thing:

Haha. Is Gabber still a thing? It sort of fizzled out in the early 2000s.

Since "Masters of Hardcore" fest is annual in Russia & gather huge crowds, I guess it's still a thing. Someone from, let's say, Rotterdam should be more aware about current state of things in Europe, though. Wink

90s Thunderdome compilations were some great stuff. Glad we finally have a thread about this!

I think it's quite popular again, with some 'retro' events gathering big crowds. It's always been alive in the crust scene here, often after gigs they'd just put up Thunderdome or RTC or similar stuff.
Back in the day some of the gabbers at my high school were also into metal. Cannibal corpse, Immolation, (Panzer division) Marduk, the fast stuff.

Once my father gave me a box of Thunderdome tapes he got for free at a pawn shop. If something went unsold, after some months they'd just put it at their door with a for free sign. Some Thunderdome tapes can now sell for quite a bit of cash, but we haven't been able to find the box back.

A lot of Metalheads back in the day here also had a few Thunderdome CDs flying around. I remember some of the posters were put up at the video rental store for some reason and they were always awesome!

Funny, here in Canada Thunderdome has no significance at all.

Well, it's basically the equivalent of a gangster rap group with a bandname "Thrash metal".
For most Europeans it just doesn't sound right to name a group Thunderdome.
