go buy a plank, cut in 3, use bricks to build the shelves. 2 rows for your 7"s and room for more on top of you use bookends. _________________ format your doormat |

100% HANDMADE !!!!!!!!! |
These type of LP holders must be the easiest to hand make. The finished example here looks pretty cool too. (dunno about the angled V cut-outs on the outer uprights though, and I always think the lower LP housings could be raised higher above floor level).
Good looking job, but surely it must be a little awkward browsing/searching for LPs in these front facing type models, especially if the records are packed in too tightly. (some record shops seem to practise this a lot, really annoying and difficult to see what LP you're looking at).
At least with Expedit shelf-holding type structures you can just search easily by looking at the LP spines. _________________

The main objection I have against storage solutions like that is that they relativly take up a lot of space for storing a small amount of records.
Once you have a 4 digit collection you either go Expedit, or go live in a huge house and have things like that. |

Serious? To travel (even short distance) every time you want to play some lp's? No thanks. _________________ Good deals with: ildjarn74, Mikael, moorleiche, Morbid Mike, mordibdeceiver, s.charlach, Goat Sadomator, BlackMinion, anotherdeadhero, The Nihil Congregation, kinghunterz, aeongrave, blacksun, markos, SonOfPerdition, Teutonic Slaughter, Wolfram, beerfiend |

Anyone got a good way of storing tapes in an ikea expedit?
It is the only place I have room to store my collection and the tapes take up 1.5 squares, seems like alot of wasted space. |

i would do it. But if you insist, ikea sells these little boxes that slide into the one of the empty spaces. You can fit a few of those little boxes in there.
For tapes, i have these wall tape holders. they up to like 50 and make finding tapes super easy. Alphabetically organizing them is a bitch when you get a new tape

I would put the lps into the plastic sleeves so that the opening is at the top. That way they don't bunch up and hang out when you put them into the Expedit _________________ http://canichangethisforanother.blogspot.com/

So, this doesn't look to good:
I wonder when it will turn into:

Yeah man, that's a lot of weight. I would make the expedits separate.
A friend gave me a nice lp storage shelf, rescued it from a derelict radio station. My only concern is that the spines of the LP sleeves hang over about a 1/2 inch from the shelf. Kinda bugs me, can this cause warp damage over time? Seems a little hysterical... |

This is just one of your problems but it looks to me like the smaller shelf on top is not oriented correctly. I believe they were menat to stand 4 cubes high and not on its side.
The bigger Expedit should be screwed into the wall.
It could also be your wall that's not straight. _________________ The only email I have access to is nwnprod (at) gmail (dot) com. I do not have access to my old Yahoo addresses.
