Ok, I've just got a BC Rich Jr. V and bought a Duncan Invader pick up for the bridge. I'm after a neck pick up that has a similar smoothness to the Duncan Jazz SH-4 (good for sweeps/ fast leads/runs), but with a bit more attack in the treble/ harmonics department. Can anyone recommend anything?

What kind of Jr. V do you have?

Get some fucking EMGs. I use an 81 in the bridge and an 89 with coil splitter in the neck of my Jackson Kelly and get the most awesome Necro guitar tone you'll ever hear. The beautiful thing about EMGs is their versatility. I've heard people complain about their high output being unsuitable for clean tones but from my experience, it's pure bullshit.

I'm not sure if the Invader is active or passive but let me tell you, combining passive pickups with active pickups is never a good idea.

Don't do sweeps and you do not have to worry about it.

Seriously though, I know DICK about technical guitar-ery. The other guitar player in FB luckily knows ALL that shit, and works in a guitar shop. So I have someone else do it for me, haha.

emgs are fukkin pointless....quiet,but so is good wiring!

you can mix active and passive, but it will cause headaches later on-had a live wire/59 combo in one of my guitars that had wierd intermittant cut outs mid gig.

i recommend a dimarzio super2 or super 3.

Not massively keen on EMGs, had them in my ESP and didn't like the tone. I've used Duncans for a few years now and I'm very satisfied with their performance, clarity and sustain. Keep the ideas coming, cheers.

EMG is not quite good IMO. Get DiMarzio-pickups. Simply the best.

I looked in to Dimarzio super 2's, from the description they seem to be what I'm after. Will probably order them later today.

I'd go with them, although I personally like EMG's, but as you already have passive mic on the bridge, I'd use DiMarzio instead of EMG's.

I suggested EMGs because of the mention of treble/harmonics/etc...very bright active pickups. But if the guitar isn't even wired for active its a moot point anyway...
What's wrong with EMGs anyhow? Master of Puppets, Reign in Blood anyone?

These days EMG's come with wiring, so when you buy the mic you get all the other stuff too...it's really easy, but altought I prefer EMG's myself, maybe they're not the right for him...
