what are some of your favorite doom bands/albums? some of my other favorites are:
asunder - a clarion call
mournful congregation - everything!
scald - will of the gods is great power
worship - last album before doomsday
burning witch - crippled lucifer
and this demo from lugubrious hymn called "serene pain" this is probably the best doom metal i've heard! does anybody know anything about this brazilian band? |

I prefer real Doom, like:
Saint Vitus - Saint Vitus
Trouble - Psalm 9
Pentagram - Relentless
Count Raven - Destruction Of The Void
Reverend Bizarre - In The Rectory Of The Bizarre Reverend
Intern Void - Standing On The Sun
Revelation - Never Comes Silence
Solstice - New Dark Age
Warning - Watching From A Distance
Mirror Of Deception - Foregone
The Gates Of Slumber - Suffer No Guilt
Witchcraft - Witchcraft
Burning Saviours - Hundus
Falls Of The Idols - The Womb Of The Earth
Minotauri - Minotauri
And of course the first 6 Black Sabbath albums, among many others. |

In terms of traditional styled doom bands my favorites are Black Sabbath (Vol. 4 & Dehumanizer being my favorites) and Candlemass (Epicus Doomicus Metalicus especially). Saint Vitus, Pentagram and Paul Chain are also good.
I'm a big fan of Ozzy's "Diary of a madman" too; one of his best works and certainly the only solo Ozzy material that comes close to the early psychedelic/doom sound of early Sabbath. |

Saint Vitus - Born Too Late
The Obsessed - Lunar Womb
Pentagram - Be Forewarned
Pagan Altar - All
Candlemass - S/t
Witchfinder General - Death Penalty
Mmournful Congregation - The Monad of Creation
Ahab - The Call of the Wretched Sea
Evoken - The Antithesis of Light
Those are just a bunch of my favorite doom albums in my collection, I like the bands too but am way to poor to own all the full lengths by alot of these bands. I'd put The Hidden Hand and Om on there too but there more stoner metal. |

Down with nu-"Doom" bullshit. Witchfinder General, The Gates of Slumber, Saint Vitus, Trouble, Cirith Ungol, Candlemass/Nemesis, Scald, Doomsword, Minotauri, Spiritus Mortis, Reverend Bizarre, and so on keep the tradition alive. |

Ahhh i see, a true doom elitist. if it aint "true" doom it's shit? hahaha. I like some of the bands on that list, early releases by Katatonia, My Dying Bride, Anathema etc. Not bullshit by far! But each to their own i guess.
Been listning to the last Warning album as of late ( name escapes me at the moment ). Brilliant!! |

Where the fuck did I say that I don't like these bands? I think Agalloch are a fantastic band as well as My Dying Bride prior to their third album, but that doesn't mean I support tagging every band which happens to play slower than Kreator "Doom". |
