Ahhh i see, a true doom elitist. if it aint "true" doom it's shit? hahaha. I like some of the bands on that list, early releases by Katatonia, My Dying Bride, Anathema etc. Not bullshit by far! But each to their own i guess.

Been listning to the last Warning album as of late ( name escapes me at the moment ). Brilliant!![/quote]

The new Warning is called "Watching from a Distance" and it is fucking awesome.

Cathedral - The Ethereal Mirror
Candlemass - Nightfall

New-ish bands: Ramesses, Orthodox, Om slay

Black Sabbath -- Born Again. The best of the best. One of Ian Gillan's greatest performances, especially during "Disturbing the Priest". Gillan is a fucking GOD.

Others:

Black Sabbath
Heaven and Hell
Mob Rules
Dehumanizer
Black Sabbath
Paranoid
Master of Reality
Vol. 4
Sabbath Bloody Sabbath
Sabotage
Never Say Die!

Candlemass
Epicus Doomicus Metallicus
Nightfall
Ancient Dreams
Tales of Creation
Candlemass
(King of the Grey Islands is pretty damn good, too)

Electric Wizard
Supercoven

(I'm really more of a speed freak, so I don't listen to much doom.)

Ah... doom metal! Probably my favorite type of metal. Favorites include:

PAGAN ALTAR
CANDLEMASS/NEMESIS
SOLSTICE
BLACK SABBATH
SAINT VITUS
WARNING (especially the demos.. crushing stuff!)

''Extreme'' doom sucks imho. Can't stand crap like ESOTERIC and MDB... I kinda like WORSHIP though. And people should mention SOLSTICE more often! How I worship that band, haha!

Maybe I'm wrong (and I could care less about that), but I never thought of the traditional doom style bands as doom. I really can't get into that music much at all. It sounds too much like hippy rock music or the stoner style stuff to me. In my eyes, doom is about death and darkness, not about drugs, medieval fantasy topics or whatever else.

Fuck....! I must say I agree with your idea...

THERGOTHON - Demo and STREAMS FROM THE HEAVENS LP.... greeattttttttttttt, but the debut lp needs to be re-masterized---
