There would never have been Whitesnake 1987 album if not for thin-lizzy, genious guitar player John Sykes. _________________

Great, great band. Can never get enough of Lizzy. Will be DJ'ing in Bruxelles Rock Bar on Saturday night (where the famous Lynott statue is in Dublin) so will be blasting plenty of Phil and the boys. Nearly 25 years dead and still sorely miss. The man was a legend.

Nothing more to add really! No one (not even MAIDEN) comes close concerning twin-guitar magic, me thinks!! And nobody before and after him, could sing like Philo! PURE CLASS all over! _________________ "Slit my eyes, for they'll remember..." |

Though not of my most revered bands, 'Boys are back...' is def one of my fave songs ever. Ha, and I don't even care for the whole camaraderie thing. It's just such an overwhelming anthem, and those twin guitar harmonies... awesome! There was a real finesse to Lizzy that I guess a lot of those other bands didn't have.
Read a great biography about Phil Lynott some years ago... playing in that band would have been a trying experience to be sure. I think it's daft that anyone tours under that name these days. _________________ Ashes to ashes

| Thunder and Lightning is utterly MASSIVE, probably one of the best "last" albums made in all of hard rock. You can smell the desperation. Each song is huge (well, perhaps with the exception of "Bad Habits" which is kinda lame), and "Heart Attack" is huger than that. This is not to discredit any of the other works, even the early hippie/psych/whatever days work brilliant with me. Everything by this band is good good good, yet I still wouldn't take it without Lynott as some would. |

Phil Lynott was a true legend - and THIN LIZZY is pure twin guitar magic. "Emerald" makes me go fucking insane, especially when intoxicated! _________________ Cauchemar - Heavy/Doom metal: http://www.facebook.com/cauchemarmetal

One of the best songs ever!
And definitely one of the coolest frontmen ever:
Has anyone seen their latest lineup live? _________________

| Total devotion. A string of brilliant and inspiring guitarists, plus Phil's voice was magic - whether with Lizzy, solo, or on Jeff Wayne's Musical "The War of the Worlds." |

Not sure what I can say that hasn't already been said in this thread. The live album "Life" which consists of recordings from the '83 tour with Sykes on guitar is one of the best fucking live albums ever! Completely essential to anyone into Lizzy or the early era of heavy metal. _________________ ANTITHEIST DISSEMINATIONS |
