My only forays into this band are 'The Adventures of...' and 'Johnny the Fox'. Fucking classic rock attack for sure. I remembered 'Angel of Death' many years after first listening to it as a kid when I heard the Vader version several years back.
Question: What else is reccomended and essential? "Everything they recorded" isn't enough _________________

For the more Metal end of things I can't recommend 'Thunder and Lightning' from 1983 enough!!! It's a great record. _________________

The live album "Life" which consists of recordings from the '83 tour with Sykes on guitar is one of the best fucking live albums ever! Completely essential to anyone into Lizzy or the early era of heavy metal. |
Its crazy how underrated this album is .the guitar tone in MASSIVE. Sykes is on fire, and Philo sings his balls off, especially on "Baby Please Dont Go"...its fucking heartwrenching ! Also, the version of "Black Rose" on there is the best Ive ever heard them do |

Love this record, one of the greatest Lizzy albums for sure! 'Fighting' and 'Bad Reputation' come very close. Heart Attack! Heart Attack! _________________ INTO THE DRAPE.. |

EVERYTHING. There are some stinker songs here and there, but every album has its gold. For the early psych/blues era, "Vagabonds of the Western World" is AMAZING.
I'd say "Live and Dangerous" is great place to start, even though it isn't really 'live', it has a lot of energy and the songs are MUCH more powerful than their counterparts on the albums.
Bad Reputation is my favorite Lizzy album, followed by Thunder and Lightning then Black Rose.
For the albums themselves, Id say start with "JailBreak" and get everything until "Thunder and Lightning" then work your way back to the early albums where they were still searching for their 'sound', yet moments of genious still pop through.
I can't stress enough how much more POWER the band had in the live setting. The studio production on "jailbreak" makes the amazing songs on there sound very weak, where live, they destroy. |

Ive got a great quality dvd of this show.... one of their greatest performances, for sure. Cowboy Song on here is especially good.... the chorus gives me chills everytime. Soooo much better than the studio version |
