Which edition? The big blue one by Weiser (I think)? If you can get that one for 50 euro then grab it, thats a steal! The older one edited by Symonds and Grant in the khaki/pink dustjacket called "Magick" is also worth getting. All other editions are junk and you're better off just reading it online.

Heads up to anyone in the Seattle area, the Esoteric Book Conference is this weekend. Book fair and art show are free to the public.

How much time do you typically devote to practicing this stuff? I'm not counting the reading, but actual practice.

This is not something you devote time to. It's a gift.

id imagine its different for everything depending on what your doing and the individual(s) involved. Then again I would not know for sure since I just read when I can and I don't practice any of the "stuff"

rituals, meditations, anything that you would consider part of an active occult practice

I think you misunderstood something. Just ask a shaman how much time he put into being a shaman.

Jeez, folks, just answer the man's question.

I am not a practicing occultist myself, but about half an hour every day seems to be pretty common amongst those who are.

It's not that simple apparently!

That not really what I'm asking. I think a more apt comparison would be asking a painter how long he paints each day.

My personal practice is usually about 45 minutes to an hour a day. This does not include serious rituals or anything like that. That is just the exercises and meditations.

I should point out, that if like most people (myself included) you say " I can't afford to spend that much time"... My experience is that my time appears to be used more efficiently, and I actually experience a "net gain" by spending that hour on meditations and so forth. Where normally I might need 8 hours of sleep to be refreshed and at 100%, I will now wake up after 6.5 hours on my own with no problem at all. My intuition and capacity for problem solving is noticeably better as well. I find I spend less time "decompressing" (doing nothing) after work, etc...

If you had asked this on a legit occult forum, full of people who practice Goetic magic, they'd tell over and over again that the best book you can read for Goetic/demonic/etc magic is the Ars Goetia itself, everything you need to know is within it's pages.

The Howling seems to me a quite personal thing that you can involve yourself even without any of the solomonic evocation stuff. Which just goes to prove that those entities can't and shouldn't be confined to that petty outlook.
