How much time do you typically devote to practicing this stuff? I'm not counting the reading, but actual practice.

My personal practice is usually about 45 minutes to an hour a day. This does not include serious rituals or anything like that. That is just the exercises and meditations.

I should point out, that if like most people (myself included) you say " I can't afford to spend that much time"... My experience is that my time appears to be used more efficiently, and I actually experience a "net gain" by spending that hour on meditations and so forth. Where normally I might need 8 hours of sleep to be refreshed and at 100%, I will now wake up after 6.5 hours on my own with no problem at all. My intuition and capacity for problem solving is noticeably better as well. I find I spend less time "decompressing" (doing nothing) after work, etc...

If you had asked this on a legit occult forum, full of people who practice Goetic magic, they'd tell over and over again that the best book you can read for Goetic/demonic/etc magic is the Ars Goetia itself, everything you need to know is within it's pages.

No it isn't. Not even close. Those old books are written in essentially shorthand assuming the person reading it has preliminary training and is capable of putting themselves in a state where a manifestation can occur. None of those old grimoires actually tell you how to do that.

That, and Goetic evocation is IMO not exactly a critical practice at all. There are easier ways to get the results you're looking for, and "beginners" categorically do not have the capacity to make it happen or do it safely.

Yeah, seriously. I can see how somebody could reply like that in a thread with this title but I can't for the life of me imagine what I said warranted that.

Indeed. For a true occult wizard master, 50 euro is NOTHING.

As well as for people who aren't failing at life.

Well, it depends on from where you are looking from, really. You can't say people that can't afford 50 Euro books are failing at life because you don't know the reasons behind the fact why they consider 50 Euros to be a "shitload of money". Perhaps they are from a "on it's way to become a third world country" like I am. Perhaps, perhaps, perhaps.

I would really like to see some of the recent occult books to be released as paperbacks as well as hardcover. That really benefitted me when I was first getting into books like this, being able to go into my local bookstore to buy a paperback version of Crowley's Book of the Law or LaVey's Satanic Bible.

I didn't know Iceland was in such a bad position now. I agree with you regarding releasing more paperbacks. Cheaper to buy and less valuable. There are some places you don't want to bring an expensive stack of paper to. Anyways, my point was that 50 dollars is usually near-nominal. Hell when I had a shitty job and I wanted a ps2 game I'd pick up some extra hours and buy it the next paycheck.

It's just funny how reading jewish books apparently magically improves your intuition and capacity for problem solving Laughing

Maybe reading anything that warrants (or compells) settling down and the use of your mental capasities and concentration more than your normal, everyday activities? It's just that many people are inclined to go the extra mile only when Yiddish and large sums of money are involved Smile

Just being sarcastic for the sake of being sarcastic...

Which "jewish books" are you refering to? I was refering to exercises and meditations. Otherwise yes, yoga and meditation combined with Bardon's visualization exercises "magically" do exactly what theyre supposed to do.
In other news, eating fiber helps you shit and lifting weights builds muscle mass.
I now await the Inquisition coming to burn me for my heresies.

Long shot, but perhaps worth a shot:

Does anybody have a .pdf of Conjuring Spirits: Texts and Traditions of Medieval Ritual Magic, edited by Claire Fanger, published by Pennsylvania State University Press?

Also interested in Angels of Light? Sanctity and the Discernment of Spirits in the Early Modern Period, edited by Clare Copeland and Jan Machielsen, published by Brill.
