How does it compare to the original?

I can't answer this but I just grabbed the first press for $30, so I'd just go with that.

Indeed, why bother when the originals are easily and cheaply found.

Perfect answer. BoB releases aren't much cheaper than that!

I have the original pressing, it's just my favorite album and I try to collect any good sounding pressings of it that are available. I've never purchased a BOB reissue of any kind because I hear that they sound like ass. Twisted Evil

If anyone ever sees any cheap Slayer 1st presses (other than Hell Awaits) please direct me in their direction and I will buy them. In the meantime I'll stick with my cd copies rather than that BOB garbage.

I do realize it may be a different story in Europe but used Slayer records in the US are a needle in a haystack type deal, in 20+ years of record store pillaging I've come across exactly 1.

I'm in America and I just grabbed Show No Mercy US 1st press and South of Heaven US 1st press for $30 and $25 both within the last month at 2 different shops. I also came across Live Undead a few months ago but didn't grab it.

Sound is very good on the BOB versions, originals are hard to find in my country so only have cd to compare & they sound better than the cd.

BoB has done some acceptable reissues but when originals can be had for cheap there's no contest. I will never understand why anyone would ever buy a BoB press of a Motorhead or Priest album for example.

Slayer LPs aren't as cheap as the aforementioned bands' but the point is worth noting. Still, BoB isn't a bad option if you need some otherwise insanely expensive shit like the first few Burzum LPs.

BoB did a really good job on that In the Woods... album, no complaints whatsoever.

Even on eBay you can find them for a fair price. $30 to $40 with shipping.
