Not all fancy records have the coolest layout or the best aesthetics. Some of the best records came with the shittiest packaging possible. What are some records you love with cheapo layout and packaging? You know the ones with black/white hand drawn cover on flimsy jacket and no insert. Here are some that come to my mind...
Parabellum "sacrilegio" MLP (Pretty much all Colombian records from this time period were ultra cheap with the shittiest paper possible)
Sabbat "Sabbat" 7" (Cultest cover artwork by Elizaveat with minimal packaging. Rub on Old English texts on the back that are slightly crooked and uneven. Primitive pefection)
Bathory "bathory" LP (Nice and simple and to the point. I like how only the eyes are red on the front cover. Also worth nothing are the primitive center label design with the cool Black Mark "witchcross" design)
Mercy "swedish metal" MLP (The first press black/white version is the shit. How can you go wrong with all hand written texts on the back with the most childish cover artwork imaginable? Fucking retard metal cult)

CHAINSAW Hellīs Burninīup LP for the cover artwork !
WITCHTRAP - Witching Metal MLP for having the 80īs south american feel because of the cheap packaging.
As for being cheap looking and having itīs charm I honestly think some of the Sombre Recīs releases like the NECROPLASMA My hearse.... LP. I donīt think it would be as cool when the cover would have thicker paper and non xeroxed/prof. printed insert.
Iīm a fan of xeroxed inserts anyway. |

The problem is that their layouts often had pixely images and was done witout attention to detail. I like primitive layouts that still has attention to detail. I think the ease of Photoshop made layouts much worse than in the 80's when there was no way to get pixels because you had to actually take photos of layouts and turn them into film.

Well this cover isn't good, but it's worth a mention..
Aggression - 1986 Previously-Unreleased LP
What....the....fuck.....were....they.....thinking? It looks like some shitty design for a halloween candy bag or something. Pixely logo, horriblely done photoshop shit, and that font that you see on halloween candy bangs (as mentioned above).
Absolutely retarded.

well not exactly bad, but a bit funny(?)....
NECROMANTIA - Crossing the fiery path (have you ever noticed the 90 degrees angle of the wolf's wide-open mouth?  )
NECROMANTIA - Scarlet evil witching black (ok, the dragon-like demon on the back-right makes me laugh my ass of and the worm carried by the cloaked demon in the middle is pure fun). This cover art is pure "Morbid Visions" rip off and nothing more.
Hopefully these two albums are great and these covers are faaar better than the recent Black Lotus reissues!
