The X Factor is a legitmately good album that mostly suffers from being a bit over long. I'd take it over Jugulator in a second.

The X Factor (dubbed on cassette around the time it was first released) made a great impression on 11 year old me as a dark album especially with that intro.
The fact teachers at school and parents had warned us to not listen to heavy metal 'cause it is "satanic music" made it even more appealing.
I still love it to this day.

The sign of the Crooooooss
The brush of Bob Rooooooss

Had never listened to the Jugulator... ('til today just to check it)

I think I've never listened to Jugulator front to back.
However, The X Factor is a solid 10/10. "2 A.M." is one of the most perfect ballads I know. You can feel Harris "going through changes" indeed, what a monument to bleakness and melancholy.

Easy.

Absolutely with you here on 2AM. Great track.

I donít give a shit re: Ripper-era Priest. Halford was more to Priest than Dickinson was to Maiden. The reverse is probably true today for the modern versions.

X factor, no contest. 2 AM is a great track as is Edge of Darkness despite the annoying chugging at the beginning.

Sure, two albums. And aren't you the same guy who said that Jugulator is the only Priest album you own?

Jugulator is a pretty brutal metal album. I really don't listen to Iron Maiden after Powerslave/Life After Death.

The X Factor is probably the better album, but I prefer Jugulator. It just feels fresher and more potent, despite its obvious flaws.

Jugulator for me too. You could get that lp for peanuts back then - which I did - funny how things change https://www.discogs.com/Judas-Priest-Jugulator/release/2996059
