There is a lot of quality Obscure US heavy/power metal like SLAUTER XSTROYES, IMAGE, EMERALD, HAMMERON, WYZARD (tx), etc...

And lots of not well known 7"s too, like PROWLER, FAR EAST, TORA ORPHAN, STRYCHNINE, etc.

There is a lot of rare but crappy stuff too.

Which ones do you think were the best and worst) of the time?

My personal favourite will always be the Lords of the Crimson Alliance full-lenght. It has this great, almost mystical fantasy vibe (while using no special effects or unusual instrumentation), the vocals are high as hell, production is weird but intriguing and they were also one of the earliest "mystery" bands since nobody knows who really hid behind those pseudonyms, although it was most likely the guys from Grudge. Everyone has this band which he considers a lost/underrated gem, this one is "mine".

Yes KILLEN are great, specially for thee vocals, not the stuff for everyone, and HEATHENS RAGE is a eternal classic.

What about this one, epic sound from 1979:

LEGEND - Fröm the Fjörds

I guess Battle Cry by Omen goes for well known / obvious stuff, but that's where it is for me. Medieval Steel as well. Gotta check out your recommendations...

Destroyer is one of the best metal tunes of all time in my opinion.
Too bad those guys were kind of all over the place genre-wise, might have been a classic band with a far more successful career.

FAR EAST

Are you just assuming it's good or are you one of the handful of people who have actually heard it?

Tora Orphan A side is a ripper though.

Great album, if someone wants to sell the LP get in touch.

I'll recommend Gargoyle:

Not obscure by any means, but the beginning of pirate era Running Wild is perfection.
