I have to confess that besides SALEM and ORPHANED LAND, I had never heard any other Metal bands from Israel. Yes, I know, shame on me. But I would have swore that PROMISCUITY was from any other country but their own. This pro-copied demo tape (yes, it is out in tape format) has a raw and loud production, reminiscent of the early 80s era, with a meaty guitar / bass tone, organic drums and evil vocals that instantly reminded me of the brazilian HOLOCAUSTO. Every instrument can be heard in the mix and the dynamics work pretty well for their style. Which brings us onto the music itself: after the rather silly intro, my favorite song off this demo, 'Infernal Rock'n'Roll', breaks in. This one is a grinding, mid-paced assault that grooves along simple, yet effective riffs a la MOTÖRHEAD. Then comes 'Crime And Punishment', which slows down the pace, but throws in a heavier feel and a needed variation. Finally, 'Gai Ben Hinnom' features some Punk and Crust influences, keeping up with the atmosphere. Now, Butcher – vocals / guitars, Werewolf – bass and Dekapitator – drums aka PROMISCUITY, are not bringing anything new to the table, but their HELLHAMMER worship is done with tons of the right attitude and sound. This is only their first demo tape and it is understandable that the songs may sound a little similar. But I can't wait for another release to check out how the band evolves.
