Don't like Wataint at all, but have always liked that design. Great looking tattoo.

Perfect? I have admittedly no clue what the healing process will do but the aureola as to be seen on this picture is, to put it mildly, just poorly done, let alone the odd-looking background. If you don't mind me asking, why did you add the background anyway? Is it supposed to be a sun or a solar eclipse, well, just a guess based on your user picture here.

That's of course just my opinion but I would have opted for a more skilled tattooist, especially for a prominent spot like the hand. Anyway, if you're happy with it...

Im pretty sure it will look much better 2 weeks later. And i think that the bit "rough" done outlines and the "gleaming" are suppossed to look like that and fit to the motive very good. Would be interesting to see it when its healed.

I guess it has to be re-inked in a few weeks. In most cases the hand doesn't keep the ink very well. The first scab is already solving and I have to re-ink. As soon as everything is healed and finalized I'll post a new one.

Keep a thin layer of triple antibiotic on it, and use one that has the word MYCITRACIN on the bottle (in ingredients I guess), then switch to massive amounts of lotion after it's basically healed and your skin is super dry.

Over half my body is tattooed and I have literally only had 2-3 super small scabs develop (size of a pinhead or so). People recommend all kinds of shit to keep on new tattoos, but the MYCITRACIN shit is by far the best. Keep a thin layer on the tattoo, and wash with soap+water every few hours, then reapply the mycitracin stuff. Keep a thin layer on 24/7. When you go to bed, you can tape some saran wrap over the tattoo/thin mycitracin layer so you won't get ink all over the sheets, but take it off and wash with soap+water immediately when waking up (you don't want to keep the wrap on too long).

You'll know when to switch to lotion. If you do that, you will virtually never have scabs develop.

I know everyone has there own advice when it comes to tattoo aftercare, but the above poster mentioned the word 'wash' which is practically anathema for a new tattoo.

Did you mean for the first day/24 hours, or the next week? I have a few arms and legs tattooed and have NEVER 'washed' the tattoo outside of the first 24 hours then until healed/stopped flaking.

No, I have always washed them every few hours with soap and warm water, with my hand (ie, no cloth or anything) very gently. You don't scrub at all, and it's almost like 'petting' for lack of a better term. You are basically just washing off the mycitracin layer so that a fresh layer can be applied. I don't doubt that there are multiple ways to have them heal properly, but like I said, I have used this method for over half of my body and have only seen a couple of minute scabs form. I have never had to get places of my tattoos touched up because of improper care/loss of ink during the healing process. Whoever told you that you cannot wash it is wrong.

A healing tattoo is an open wound (by definition) and much care should be taken while it heals. The above method I mentioned has worked remarkably for me. I have convinced friends to try it instead of their old methods, and they all agree that this method works extremely well. A lot of people just put lotion on it the whole time, which is awful, and is why they get scabs and lose ink where the scabs formed. The whole point is to keep it clean (warm water/soap with hand), moist (mycitracin) so that scabs will not form. Once it gets to the super dry/peeling stage, just use a shitload of lotion.
