I just got sabbat - Envenom done for my first real tattoo(Shitty stick and pokes on myself in other places.) a week and a bit ago. REALLY impressed with the work she did, its damn intense.
I haven't used lotion or anything after cleaning it once when I first got it. Im kinda just leaving it alone and only gently petting it when I shower with really hot water. A friend told me to basically leave it alone for it to heal best and avoid touching / doing anything to it. Anyone know how crucial using lotion is for the healing process? Also should you be using sunscreen - or wait until its fully healed for that?

Sounds like everyones got different methods. Ill probably go buy some unscented lubriderm or something to put a light layer on it then wash off in a bit. Fucking itch is pissing me off, looks like its healing really well though, just itchy. Getting the shading done next week so i should probably take really good care of it after that.
What about sunscreen though? Ive been wondering about that alot since it seems alot of sun is really bad for fading

Lubriderm is all I ever used. I am fully sleeved and have a full back piece and I never had any issues or infections. It was advised by my tattooist that all I use is lubriderm. He told me to avoid anything like vaseline or similar texture that captures dirt and basically suffocates the 'scar tissue'.

Also when applying lubriderm make sure you DON'T leave a thick layer on. Small amount and rub it in. It will itch for a few days. Get a clean cloth/towel, soak it in very hot water and place it over the tattoo tapping it gently for about 45 seconds.

My tattoo artist recommended lubriderm as well. Already got some and did what you said. Ill do the hot towel thing later. Sounds like a good idea.
Ill take a picture of it when I get the shading done. Really impressed with it already. thank satan for tax returns

I swear by Aveno. I'm sure it's exactly the same as Lubriderm or any other major moisturizer. I've never used anything else and have had no problems either.

there is no better way to keep your tattoos looking good than keeping them out of the sun.

Getting my first tattoo tomorrow. Will keep some of this stuff in mind. Keeping out of the sun is no problem, I'm ghastly white and work the night shift.

And here it is. The angle isn't the best, but you get the idea. Not finished yet, my artist was behind schedule today and is going to add some shading/flames in a few weeks.
