On “Unholy Fight For Metal”, Finnish horde Evil Angel launch a blistering attack on the hypocritical denizens of paradise, storming the gates with a battering barrage of devil-worshipping might. Subterranean antipodeans Darklord recorded their cult demo “...By the Force of Sacred Magic Rites...” on a four-track cassette recorder in 1993. Now, this historic piece of nascent lo-end nastiness is excavated by Blasphemous Underground and forged lovingly onto 7” vinyl. The crude, seminal EP showcases one of extreme music's heaviest proponents at their downtuned, dark and unholy zenith, emitting a unique guttural majesty that ignores the black metal template adhered to by countless scene sheep. Bleak and austere, the six tracks of blasting, brutal black/death represent some of the heaviest music ever put to tape while an eerie, disturbing degree of proficiency and technicality peers through the grime to shatter any preconceptions and smash all boundaries. All of 15 years ago, Darklord proved that even the most extreme music can boast a subtle progressive slant. Today, this sounds as exquisite, intriguing and horrific as ever.
