I really want to dislike this band. I sort of found Cremation is Irreversible somewhat enjoyable. Anything else redeeming in the discography?

I really got hot under the collar over "For Which He Plies The Lash" when it turned up yonks ago, but after a recent listening I wasn't too impressed.

I thought "World Turns..." was pretty good. Not crazy about the lyrics and imagery. He's really into some goofy sex and S&M.

i really like everything they've done except for "For Which He Plies the Lash" and "Cremation is Irreversible." the Genital Tomb tape is probably my favorite release

Never really clicked with me.

On a related note, I saw Prurient a few years ago and he was joined by some other musicians at the end of his set where they did a fucking amazng noise/black metal thing...never been able to find out what that was all about, or if it was ever released in some form. It definitely wasn't Ash Pool.

Ok, thanks for the suggestion. Listening to a few VM tracks now, and it definitely sounds like the kind of stuff they did. But if I remember correctly, Fernow stayed on electronics and vocals, and there was a female guitarist and male drummer - which doesn't match the VM lineup.

Why would you dislike this band? Ash Pool is the best black metal from the US currently.

I think their records are okay, although I rarely ever seem to play them. I think their visual aesthetic is actually more interesting than their music fwiw....

Both Departure Chandelier and Vegas Martyrs are far better than Ash Pool in my books. I still enjoy the Black Bondage in the north and Saturn Slave EPs
