The obvious answer is Stillbirth Machine for me, but I know a lot of people prefer An Ending in Fire and I'm sure there are some who think Dawn Bringer is their peak for whatever reason.

Stillbirth is their best and a landmark for true black/death.
Other two are good but nothing can be compared with SM.

An Ending in Fire! Nothing tops the bulldozer riffs in Plateau of Invincibility.

Dawnbringer is not a full length or LP. It's a MLP. Always was

That's how I have regarded it as well due to the cover songs and live tracks.

Stillbirth Machine for sure. Nothing can top the energy and the sound of it.

Stillbirth but the Conqueror of Fear part from An Ending in Fire is the best.

Is the DVD that was suppose to be coming out years ago still in the works?

Oh and if anyone has the belt buckle for sale PM me.

An Ending in Fire for me. It has a better cohesive progression from start to finish and is greater as a sum of its parts. "The Edge of Forever" is a top-five black/death metal album opener, and every song on SM is amazing, but An Ending in Fire wins it on its merits as a single unit.

Not to mention the cosmic "wookie vocals" in "De Stella Nova."

Stillbirth, for the alien guitar tone.

Stillbirth because of the 2001 Intro.
Now seriously that album has enough riffs to melt steel beams.

The live tracks are not part of the album, but bonus tracks. And this album only has one cover song.

But, anyway, it's still my favourite since it was the first one I heard and because of "Labyrinthine Whispers" alone.

Exactly how I see it!

I´m quite sure the band regards "Dawn Bringer " as a full length album, they always talked about ending the band after three albums and so on. To me it always felt like something of a transitional release before their magnum opus. It is still great on its own though!
