OK, I have not been active on this forum for very long, but have dropped by for some time to get some much needed info on new releases.. What is hard not to notice is the pretty harsh opinions by most posters about most norvegian music, being past or present. So my questions are:
1. What worthy norvegian metal albums are there?(you pretty much slag off whatever classic release by norvegian bands there is,)
2. Are there any REALLY good norvegian bands active today? |

The Battalion, Diskord, Abominat, Kaosritual, Black Majesty, Mare, Selvhat, Virus, Lobotomized, and Deathhammer are all quite good. |

I like Mayhem, Taake(yes, really), Atrox(Only the 2 first albums, theatrical gothic avantgard metal for those who havent heard it).
But nowadays, I can think of many scenes who is way more appealing to me, for instance the Swedish "orthodox" kind of blackmetal, Also HM inspried bm like Nifelheim. I dont get impressed by the "True Norwegian Black Metal moniker"  |

Yeah, they are pretty good. I have their split with Koldbrann. May give it a spin now that you have mentioned them. It has been a while. |

Some recent albums from Norwegian bands I would recommend are Ordo Ad Chao by Mayhem and Ad Majorem Sathanas Gloriam by Gorgoroth. Both are solid, in my opinion. I've heard a couple of tracks by Beastcraft and they sound quite good, too.

One extremely underrated Norwegian Black Metal band : DEMONIC. Especially their demo "Lead us into darkness". Killer material!!
