Excuse my ignorance for a moment, but if you upload your CD into the computer in order to burn a CD-R for a trade, does that not then become a MP3 source ?

Or am I missing the quality manner of the MP3 rip here...

Not really, you can do a CD image with any of the most popular CD copy programs like NERO, ROXIO, ASHAMPOO, etc and then burn it onto a blank CDR. This process does not imply ripping the audio CD to mp3. The audio tracks are copied from the original CD into the HD and then to the blank CDR for an identical copy.
