True or not, Lemmy is not really a moral instance in such matters.

Why is anyone here concerned at all with Metallica anymore. I can understand the maybe like/dislike of the 'black' album which came out when I was in my late teens... at this point though why are any of 'us' here giving a fuck what these clowns do anymore?

They do not exist. They all died, they are dead. They do not exist and nothing past the first three albums have any sort of relevance to anything anymore. Kill Em All, Ride the Lightning, and Master of Puppets... further than that you risk being infected by whatever happened to these guys Wink

Got rich, got gay.

Some pre-late-2009 interview, probably much earlier. I can date it so because I attended Motorhead gig in my city in December 2009 and before the band came to stage (there was no warm-up), VU's first album was coming from the speakers, and it amused me a lot just because of the statement in question.

Lou Reed wrote some good music, but some of the most horrible lyrics ever. The VU lyrics were typically fine, but his solo stuff is ridiculously bad lyrically.

Hey why don't you go swallow razor blades?

That song is my go-to example for how bad his lyrics were for most of his solo material. Terrible fucking lyrics.

Neh, they're fine. You're just jealous because he's had multiple butt sex with David Bowie. Nobody really ever cared about lyrics in music anyway.

71? Drugs and alcohol don't kill fast enough.

As Lemmy once said, "Lou Reed should burn in Hell for attracting so many people to heroin" Twisted Evil

(however, somebody who's in charge of Motorhead's twitter reacted to the news otherwise)

Lemmy, the anti-drug advocate.

I don't understand how LR's music sounds any different from any other popular rock musicians shit. I think he just looked gayer than most and had worse lyrics. Looking like a gay made his death more interesting than his old neighbor the plumber.

1) Lemmy's notoriously anti-heroin - read his book. His first love died of that shit man....

2) Velvet Underground & Nico came out in early '67. Nothing in mainstream rock sounded like that at the time.... that shit is John Cale fucking crushing it man.... there's a reason why Alex Ross hypes this album to death in The Rest Is Noise.....

That's what happens when a band is extremely influential. Everything that comes after them owes so much to them that their signature elements become mundane.

The good thing about The VU is that after you've heard them you can stop buying indie albums since 90% of indie bands are just crappy imitations of what The Velvet Underground did.

I can't think of many bands in the sixties or seventies that adopted the VU sound. I was more or less referring to LR apart from VU. VU had the weird tuning that I didn't notice being emulated until sonic youth.
