YES
All of their 80s records (bar Outside the Gate perhaps) are completely essential IMO. Revelations is probably my favourite of the first few but Whats THIS For...! and the s/t are absolute classics, as are Night Time and BRIGHTER THAN A THOUSAND SUNS which is a criminally underrated album in my eyes and potentially my favourite by them. Fuck, pretty much ANY KJ album is essential, so you can't ignore the later ones like Extremities or Hosannas either. Also I saw them live a couple of years ago (front row) and they are arguably the most intense thing you can watch live, although their setlist left a bit to be wished for (but thats another story). |

An interesting rarity/oddment for KJ fans. Jaz moved to New Zealand in the early 90's and did some production work for various bands. The pick of the bunch was a local hardrock band called Shihad - they moved to Australia later and turned into a pretty dull semi stadium rock band. But the album he produced for them, "Killjoy", is really good and well worth searching out on blogs/torrents. As far as I know it was never released outside New Zealand.Has quite a early 90's KJ feel to it.

I have tried to get into his band numerous times (of course from Metallica covering them, which is how I got into a lot of other bands at a young lad) but I never really took to them. I have the s/t album with The Wait on it I found in a used bin but it's never really struck that sweet spot with me... oh well
EDIT: fucking LOVE the Metallica version.... |

For years I've only owned "Laugh? I Nearly Bought One!" and "Extremities." One of these days I'll get around to checking out their discography for real. But I really like those two. _________________ http://unspeakableaxerecords.com |

The first album is mandatory. All killer, no filler. I find the rest of their discography to be very hit and miss.
I absolutely worshiped 'Extremities' when it came out, but I don't think it's aged as well as the debut. _________________ Evil Is As Evil Does... |

I bought "Fire Dances" back in my early hardcore punk days just b/c I saw their name in catalogs & thought they were hc so I didn't really like it. I've d/l'd a lot of their work and sort of like it but none of it has hit me as anything I'll go back for relistening. They're a band I want to like alot but just can't. |

An interesting band, certainly hit and miss but have always done their own thing. 'What's This For?', 'Fire Dances', 'Greater Than 1000 Suns' and 'Extremities...' are all great though, well worth checking out. |

You know what is fucking amazing? The
2003 self titled KJ lp, with Dave Grohl on drums. Check it out if you haven't already. _________________ Too Old, Too Cold |
