Well, I guess you can't just pack them into your luggage when you're going by plane either, without getting caught. So I think travelling by car is the safest way to avoid problems. But then again, in Belgium you are allowed to own human bones/skulls... I just do not know if you're allowed to travel with them to other countries.

Especially when travelling with a band in a van, coming from the Netherlands, we get at least pulled over 1 or 2 times on every time we drive to or through Germany or any other country in the EU...
I also noticed the increassing border patrols between the Dutch / German border... I travel a lot to Finland and I use the German airport for it (cheaper flights) and the last year I've been pulled over 9 out of 10 times for a "routine" check... when travelling with my own car or with an airport bus... pretty weird.... friends of mine noticed the same: they drive 1 or 2 times a month to Germany to buy beer & booze and most of the time, they get pulled over, their car searched, passports checked etc as a "routine" check..

Now that you mention, I once drove with German friends of my parents, who were staying at my parents place to the Netherlands and the cops pulled us over as well. Didn't check the car, I think, but they did ask passports (I was 20 at the time) and then that was it, we never really understood what was going on.
Guess it might have something to do with drugs traffick?
So, it's less safe than I thought, still there seems to be quite a chance that you can do this without getting in trouble... |

Really? I'm Spanish, I've crossed the French border maaany times and I've never been stopped by the police.

| Well, the police, the Guardia Civil or the Ertzaintza aren't particularly nice whenever we cross the border over here. The French police is quite active too around here. |

Haha, good thing I don't play in a band, I'd end up driving around with skulls thinking it's no risk at all and probably getting caught at the first border.  |
