Okay, this is clear enough I guess. Just vote for your favourite album by fucken Asphyx and add your explanation if possible. I'm curious to know how many of you actually enjoy the post-Van Drunen lp's, which sound massive to my ears as well, and which one is the less praised. By the way, I couldn't care less for reunions. Especially when it comes to new stuff, so that's the main reason I'm not including their new albums. They were absolutely crushing the 3 times I saw them, though.

In my case, I'd vote for 'The Rack' since I grew up with that fucker but lately I've been digging 'Embrace the death' more, its sound is absolutely dark, heavy and haunting beyond belief. Also 'On the wings of Inferno' is a great candidate...

So you decided not to vote at all then? Wink

-"Last One On Earth"-

Anyway, the new Asphyx-material really crush as well. "Death The Brutal Way" has been spinning many times since it was released.

Your loss! "Death the Brutal Way" is a killer album. Anyway, my vote goes for "The Last One on Earth", because I actually enjoy this album, while their other 2 old albums I heard ("The Rack" & "Embrace the Death") bored me.

At the moment, s/t. Gonna vote that one, it's the one I listen to most these days. But The Rack would be an all-time fave. Savage riffs.

Latest album was very good indeed...

The Rack! Why ? Because it is the first one, the dirtiest one and because I had to choose between this one and Last One On Earth. You should've include Death the Brutal Way, which is very good.

I'll go for Last One On Earth. It marked my early years listening to death metal, since is one of the first I heard. I love it!

how can you not include the new stuff?! DTBW is a massive beast of an album wich can match easily with their older work !
also like that deathhammer stuff as well

Last One On Earth
Death, the Brutal Way
Embrace the Death
s/t

The Rack is good, but I much prefer these four. The Rack sounds like a transition album.

Had to go with The Rack. Perfect balance of ripping Death Metal and atmospheric Doom.

On the Wings of Inferno isn't far behind though, one of the heaviest albums ever made.

There's three Asphyxes:

(1) The brutal, two-riff wonders of The Rack and other acknowledged classics.
(2) The somewhat depthy doom-death band of Asphyx and the first album.
(3) The complete failure that made God Cries and did not hide itself from the eye of Satan afterwards.

I like #1 but really respect them for #2. For #3 I just hide my head in my hands and pretend I'm listening to Morbid "Hold the G" Angel.
