"Darkness Descends" overlooked? Complete crap, that album is neither over- nor underrated, but properly acknowledged. And sounds nothing like SLAYER, that is as pointless as comparing MAYHEM with SAMAEL. |

I always think its starts great, but then it quickly descends into monotony and I remember why I don't listen to it. The vocals bug me too. Doesn't help that thrash is my least preferred genre in extreme metal I suppose. |

I think that's fairly typical really. I like the next couple of albums after it, but it starts going downhill after Hell Awaits for sure. |

That's what I thought too until I got to understand the importance and sheer power of destruction of "Reign In Blood" in the times it was released and realised how "Hell Awaits" gave its shape to most of the death metal I love. It's mostly a matter of getting a context.
Anything they did after "Reign In Blood" is worthless though. |

Show No Mercy is THE best Slayer album. The first three Slayer albums are all fantastic. But nothing beats Show No Mercy, probably because it was that album who got me into "extreme" metal. _________________ Todays modern science is your modern religion. |

South of Heaven and Seasons in the Abyss would be "worthless"?

I don't like them. Ok, there are a few ok songs on "South Of Heaven" but "Reign In Blood" was an album that truly changed the face of music and no band could ever write a decent follow-up to it. |

South of Heaven
Mandatory Suicide
War Ensemble
Dead Skin Mask
Spirit in black
Born of Fire
Seasons in the Abyss
Clearly "worthless" or at best "ok" songs. Seriously, this thread just gets better and better. Keep it coming. _________________ Permaban him
