This RUHO EP is actually one of my recent favorites...
I got it as a trade and I really had no expectations for it - but it certainly has the TRUE black metal darkness and gnarliness that I appreciate. The sound is very obscure - noisy repetitive walls of guitars and the pummeling drums are deliberately buried in the sound - but you feel them just enough in the murky mix. There's no virtuoso performances here but it's all totally coherent. I think it's perfect as it is.
I'm not gonna compare this to any specific bands - although it would be easy to name several Scandinavian masters.
I really like all 3 tracks on it, and I can say that it truly captures the FEEL of real nekro black metal - fucking devastating, creepy and otherworldly.
You can almost smell the odour of death listening to this!
