I always thought the EP and first album had an incredibly stoic atmosphere to them because of those long instrumental passages. Very fitting of the desolate landscapes they tried to portray and a great idea if you consider that at the time the only way to win in Metal was to be more hectic and wild than the previous band.
I'd also like to add Forgotten Woods' stuff in general, the vocals just kind of bleed in as another instrument especially on the first album. There are some bona fide instrumentals as well though that rule. |

| Don't know any truly great black metal instrumentals. Only great metal instrumentals I can think of are from Morbid Angel, Dissection and Metallica. |
