If Katharsis is the crown, Moonblood surely must be the second sphere of Teutonic Black Metal (and Tha-Norr maybe the third?). This notion has only been amplified with the current reissue campaign lead by Iron Bonehead and Misanthropia Discos. I've been amazed by the new face Patrick Engel's mastering has given their discography; one which proves that the "amateur" aspect of the band merely resided in it's technical presentation.

It's been a bit confusing with the 7+ ongoing Moonblood threads, so here's one to replace them all. Feel free to post whatever you like as long as it's Moonblood related. News, anecdotes, opinions, rare interviews etc.

Desaster are too thrashy to be 'Teutonic Black Metal' ?

I figure Absurd should take the Katharsis spot here, or do they belong on a different list and comparison?

That's an opinion. I would not criticize anyone for suggesting Absurd and Desaster.

Absurd being better than both Katharsis and Moonblood, while also being the germanest thing ever in BM terms

A band that had already no importance in the german scene in the 90's as far as i am concerned(!). This internet-hype has nothing to do with the past's reality. Tha-Norr where also quite an unknown / not very popular band.
Absurd, Ungod (first german second-wave Black Metal band that released an LP!), Dawnfall, Martyrium, Silexater etc. are / where essential teutonic Black Metal bands.

And now that everyone has had the chance to stroke their choleric teen-egos, could we please return to the subject at hand?

Sob a Lua do Bode for sure, those 4 tracks are the best they recorded, Taste Our German Steel comes second.

But if I could I would take different tracks from different albums and eps making a compilation.

Taste Our German Steel for me. Blut Und Krieg is vastly overrated in my eyes.

Voted for Blut & Krieg since it's the only one I keep coming back to once in a while. My opinion on them is very ambivalent, I think they are one of the most overrated underground bands which only few people gave a damn about before that silly Nargaroth album, but on the other hand I can't deny they have some fine atmospheric riffs/ideas here and there.

I'd love to hear decent mixes of the rehearsals circulating online. If a label could do to these rehearsals what Drakkar did recently to the Vlad Tepes demos, they would have my cash in an instant.

Hear, hear. Heck, I'd shell out for a 25LP box of these.

Hard-pressed to choose between TOGS and the DSO split. Going with TOGS solely for the virtue of having longer running time.

Yep, can't hear why all the hassle with this band is. Absolutely nothing brilliant or close to unique and special.
