| Bethlehem in their prime were far too original and diverse to even have their name mentioned in the same breath as this genre. |

Black Metal which naturally and creatively projects its own despair, hatred and the demise of all things commends my respect. The ten-a-penny "DSBM" trend with bands like "I'm in a Coffin" and "Happy Days" that pop up every single day can fuck right off. |
This... Happy Days, Deep-Pression, Nostalgie... That's the kind of faggot metal which I despise. But most people think every band labelled with "DSBM" it's the same... You're wrong kids. |
Exactly. The likes of "A. Morbid" and his deluge of crap bands have done a lot of damage to the credibility of "DSBM". Nevertheless, there are still plenty of decent, worthwhile bands to be found in this subgenre - Silencer, Vhernen, Bethlehem, Nyktalgia, MACKY to name but a few. _________________ Scum, subhuman scum... |

Does Forgotten Tomb fit in this subgenre? Didn't see them mentioned so far.
And yes, Wigrid is (was?) a great Burzum clone. Maybe the best.

+1 What a fucking crying baby that "A.Morbid" is...
I also like most of the bands named here. |

Silencer for the music not for the overhyped vocals
Shining until and including parts of Halmstad
Lifelover first two albums
Forgotten Tomb until and including parts of Love's burial ground
Dolorian first two albums preferably
Funeral Dirge
occasionally Wigrid as well
Bethlehem, as stated above, is totally different and independent entitiy so I, like many around here, do not consider them as a part of so called suicidal black metal scene.
As far as I'm concerned the trend started with Selbsmord Services and was called suicidal black metal, the bands were much more original with distinctive features unlike later bedroom projects which swarmed the scene around 2005 and onwards with riffs ripped off from shoegaze albums, whiny shrieks, 2 riff-tracks lasting more than at least 8 min, silly bw covers as if drawn by a 4 year old, and whatnot. |

Burzum (sort of...), Bethlehem (not DSBM, but related), Forgotten Woods and Strid. _________________ ONLY DEATH IS REAL |

Labels such as Self Mutilation Services and Depressive Illusion seem to have quickly embraced the trend and released albums that ordinarily wouldn't have seen the light of day. _________________ Scum, subhuman scum...

kinda funny admission, I do have a minor soft spot for Xasthur... somehow it aged much better for me than a lot of the other acts coming out at that time and from similar regions (leviathan for example SUCKS to me. took me forever to realize I did not care for it, sans the split with xasthur which is good on both fronts) hahaha
uhhh aside from whats already been mentioned, Marblebog is/was good _________________ trade-want list/available list- http://www.nwnprod.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=20339 |

Can't believe someone else mentioned I'm in a Coffin. That's hilarious. I completely understand not liking them at all, but for me, that band is so over-the-top and ridiculous that it's just fun to listen to. _________________ A TERRE RECORDS
