What are your opinions on Shining, Lifelover, Hypothermia, Xasthur and other "depressive" or "suicidal" black metal bands? _________________

Meh. But I fucking love Nyktalgia and Sterbend.
Also, Lyrinx and Self-Inflicted Violence are quality UK acts. |

Foulest branch on the Black Metal tree. Is that subgenre still trendy? |

Only Kelkum is real! Other bands from that genre simply suck big balls.
Never been a fan of this shit. |

I think most of this stuff is pretty lame but I do like Hypothermia, Regnum, and Sterbend. |

Always love Xasthur and Shining, both of them make excellent music with a unique touch, I don't think people who really listen to an album like "V - Halmstad" can call this music gay, but for the rest of the "Depressive Black Metal" scene, I just simple don't give a fuck.
But you know, some people are scenester that just like to fit in a scene, and when they hear "Hey, if you listen to this, you're not uber trve morbid satanic metal ov death warrior", they just agree without checking for himself anything at all. |

Strid, Bethlehem, Xasthur, Nyktalgia, Singultus, Sterbend, Vhernen, Coldworld, Beatrik, Dolorian, Krohm and Shining (yes, even Shining).
The ten-a-penny "DSBM" trend with bands like "I'm in a Coffin" and "Happy Days" that pop up every single day can fuck right off. _________________

Black Metal which naturally and creatively projects its own despair, hatred and the demise of all things commends my respect. The ten-a-penny "DSBM" trend with bands like "I'm in a Coffin" and "Happy Days" that pop up every single day can fuck right off. |
This... Happy Days, Deep-Pression, Nostalgie... That's the kind of faggot metal which I despise. But most people think every band labelled with "DSBM" it's the same... You're wrong kids. |

Happy Days and Deep-Pression? Are you fucking kidding me with this fruity bs? jesus christ there's some silly shit out there.
Personally I really like stuff like Strid, Marblebog and a few others, but for the most part most of it is really uninspired. However, I've always liked Xasthur but I've become more of a fan since he moved to Hydrahead and branched out his sound to total weirdness. I would put Subliminal Genocide, Defective Epitaph and All Reflections Drained up there with records I hold in high esteem.
I've always prefered bands like Bethlehem and Nortt that blur the edges of the genre but are still totally "depressive" if such a word can be used with a straight face. |

There's also the divide between bands that try to promote a message of negativity for others to emulate and those worthless bands that just wallow in their own self-pity. Needless to say the former have clearly done a good job. _________________

Wigrid are fucking awesome too. Are Burzum still lumped in under "depressive"? They were at one time.... |
