Listened to Lawless darkness today for the first time in awhile and it's great record. Hope the next record is in the same vein.

Erik always reminded me of a more credible Dani Filth. Don't mean that in a bad way. Promoting the fuck out of his band, printing a lot of merchandise etc. I remember him on those old message lists (what were they called again?), on lots of forums like FMP and tons of flyers. Fair fucks to the guy. This is just another step to make Watain a big band.

Who are the fools? Us in our 9-5 office/factory/warehouse jobs or Watain, touring the world, getting laid, free booze and drugs and probably making some decent money from it all?

Yeah, hats off to this guy for mass marketing black metal and printing up tons of merchandise to get the Watain brand spread around the world.

We <3 you Erik. xoxoxoxoxoxo

Maybe you missed it, but black metals already "mass marketed". Since about 1993. That's nearly 20 years to you.

It wasn't mass marketed with Venom?

I think some black metal purists are living in another plane of reality. Their precious genre has been tabloid fodder for 20+ years. Black Metal = reality tv: the music genre.

Death Metal is much more "underground" when you think about it.

Well a friend has had this for a few weeks now and it is a very interesting way of presenting the music and the band. Obviously not everyones cup of tea, but far more interesting than a straight up concert dvd, and the way the concert/non concert footage combine is really well thought out and executed.

As someone who's lost all interest in this band over the last 5 years or so, I've got to say that that trailer is pretty fucking cool. They have succeeded in getting me to pay attention Mad

My son seemed to like the trailer. Never seen him so focused before (perhaps with the exception of when we listened to Teitanblood).

In both genre there are mainstream & UG bands. + the best selling acts are still Death Metal bands, way ahead BM bands (ever heard of Cannibal Corpse ? just an example...).
