It should be in the stores by now, so how is it? I enjoyed both Scars and Stench, while being far away from the class of the first 3 lps they were still fairly good albums, Deicide is still Deicide.

Stench was okay but it couldn;t really capture the essence of the earlier albums.

To me the last greatest Deicide album has got to be Once Upon The Cross.

I thought Stench of Redemption breathed new life into a fading Deicide. With the addition of Owen and Santolla the speed and songwriting took a big step forward and Santolla's leads were incredible. I also thought Asheim did his best work. He blasted his ass off on that album.

As for the new one it definitely didn't have the immediate impact that Stench did and after only one listen I can only say it's alright, not as good as Stench but not as mediocre as the stuff in the middle of their catalog.

Agreed, Legion is a very very strong album, technical yet no less brutal. Once Upon..is less technical yet has very strong songs in terms of composition and songwriting.

Stench has good leads- to me that;s a good thing but it doesn;t really meld with the rest of the songs. The album is like a blur to me and the only breather are the leads. Would have been a gret album if it came out in the 90s but not so nowadays with the deluge of tons of brutal/speed death metal albums.

Just my personal opinion.

The first one does it for me. I don't need much else from Deicide. Maybe the Amon demos.

I remember Roadrunner having re-issued the demos in a compilation - "Feasting The Beast".

Maybe Lex has the original or copies of the demos.

If your heart beats for american death metal there is no such thing as a really lousy Deicide album, even their least inspired albums are still miles ahead most modern attempts at the genre.
That being said I downloaded the new album as I just couldn't wait for Earache to release it on vinyl. It sounds like typical Deicide yet brings a few new elements to it, i.e. more melodic solos and longer songs. It will grow on me for sure.

OUTC is the ultimate Deicide album for me: really dark riffs, tight drumming and savage vocals. The only album I couldn't get into that much was Insineratehymn though, has a very flat sound.
Gotta check out this new one..

I think Once upon the cross was their best.

Phew, I am quite a bit into their stuff up until "Once" (where they re-combined elements of the first two albums basically), then Serpents" still has its moments but after that they turned into a very very trivial and neglectable band in my opinion.

About "Stench"...well, the new line-up definitely did help the band but it is exactly the leads which sound out of place to me.
On the latest Obituary album it works but not here.

Only titles I get into are S/T, Legion, Scars and Stench. Even the Amon demos too. Insineratehymn and ITIH were just records they completed fast to get off their contract with Roadrunner...and it shows...don't care for them at all. I have hopes for the new one though...will listen to it later.
