Yeah I know I made the finnish black metal thread recently, but am binging on the aussie stuff as well lately. Seriously enjoy Eternum's stuff (only decided to check them out after their article in Zero Tolerance, so I was pleasently surprised) and obviously know of bands like Nazxul, Woods of Desolation, Drowning the Light and the like. I seem to recall some talk of a Southern Tyrant group or something along those lines and am curious to know about what bands are in this circle, as well as any projects that should be paid attention to that might only have released demos or be under smaller labels.
da666 and other aussie board users here probably know the most of the plethora of aussie bands so am keen to hear their suggestions too, if they come across this thread. |

many, many great bands coming out of Australia these days - Drowning The Light, Woods Of Desolation, Pestilential Shadows, Aquilus, Midnight Odyssey etc... fuck, I'm sure I'm forgetting tons more here but those are just a few that come to mind. _________________

Both are great. Had come across Atra before, actually.

Desgranges sound pretty good.
Isn't this the 'Macedonian' band or something? Name rings a bell. |

Midnight Odyssey!
This band is incredible. Have their three-0way split CDr from Svartgalgh with Intra Tenebrae and the other band. |

Some bands that havn't been mentioned yet that are worth checking out;
Erebus Enthroned, Lightless, Zeta Reticuli, Nekros Manteia, Morbid Frost, Nocturnal Silence, Orrery, Arkheth, Forest Mysticism.
Drohtnung's side on their split with Woods of Desolation was great too, although that is the only song (aside from the new one on youtube) i've heard from that project.
Morbid Frost and Nocturnal Silence releases might be a bit hard to track down now though.
Edit: Forbidden Citadel of Spirits i'd recommend highly. first ep, splits with Kruel Kommando, Vetala, DTL and Kazaviel and the unreleased tracks for future splits with Enecare, Vetala and Wampyrs Dungeon on their 2010 compilation in particular. _________________

Heh, I have the Zeta Reticuli demo. Good band. Orrery are also great, as are Forest Mysticism. Will check out the others. |
