Don't know if anyone on here is into Iron Monkey , I liked their Self titled and Our problem back when they came out so I was interested to see that they have a new album coming out https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L-S-LsLJqIc
Can't say it sounds all that interesting from the one track .

I fucking loved Iron Monkey. Their records are classics.

BUT: so much of what Iron Monkey was was all because of Johnny Morrow. Without him, it just isn't the same. His vocals were so important to their sound. It just can't be the same.

I'm sure what these guys release will be decent, but not sure they should be calling this Iron Monkey.

I'll still buy it tho.

You guys and your nostalgia...

New track sounds vicious.

I can understand if people don't like the idea of Iron Monkey without Johnny Morrow, but i think the new track sounded solid.

I don't have a problem with the track itself , it's the production that seems a bit too polished for the style .

They were all about the riffs for me anyway, and this delivers.

Another new song

Thought it'd suck, but so far, it stinks of HATRED. And that's good.

I'll buy it without listening to the advanced tracks, I'm sure it will be good. Although it's a pitty Justin didn't join them. He's style will also be missed next to John's. Maybe he didn't agree with reforming the band?

They always sucked. It's an incredibly predictable move that they'd return now bong/amp/bastard bands are the most popular thing in the UK.

It's definitely not the same without Johnny Morrow, but the riffs are still there from what I heard on the sample track. Based on that I picked up the CD. I haven't listened to much sludge recently so this should be a nice change of pace once it arrives.

Wrong. Grime, crack cocaine, tracksuits and obesity are the most popular things in the UK at present alongside mobility scooters and staring at mobile phones instead of doing anything worthwhile.
I dug the albums and am curious as to how this sounds. I'm hoping to be pleasantly fucking surprised!

haha. True.

Not sure I know what you mean by 'bong/amp/bastard bands..". I feel like I'm out of touch..

Never bothered with this band. Back when they were around I just remember seeing the 'outrageous' artwork for 'our problem', and thinking they were the UK version of Eyehategod and not bothering to check them out properly.

Haha, okay fair play on that one!

But yes, I was refering to sludge/stoner. Iron Monkey to me sound like EHG with a nu-metal tinge and I can't stand those "EE-YAAAH YAAAAH" vocals. I've not got a clue why people ever cared about this band, when there's actually better written, significantly nastier (and it's all about being nasty right?) stuff like Grief about. The new Primitive Man sounds awesome too. But hey, Charger have reformed too... hopefully Earhtone9 and Labrat will come next!
