Fuck you, its not my fault that you know only Metallica and Iron Maiden and most extreme thing youve ever heard was Children of Bodom. |

| Just depends on my mood. In any given month, maybe 15% or so of my LP's make it to the turntable, and in the next month, a different 15% I don't really have much to cull, as I don't do many blind LP purchases, like I do with CDs and tapes when they are cheap. |

considering all the shit releases that come out these days, I cull early and often. its a constant cycle of madness, especially when you are a broke ass desperately trying to keep your collecting habbits OFF the credit cards.
I am semi OCD about clutter too, so if I sit down and listen to something for the first time in ages, and it has no effect or impact on me, its gotta go! FAR too many quality wants (mostly older crap I cant afford) to be sitting around with a bunch of clutter just collecting dust
I still stand in front of my shelf all the time and cant find a single thing to play. I usually pawn that task off on guests by making them walk over and pull some random stuff for me. hahaha
I also have about 300-400 tapes I could honestly stand to part ways with, but im too lazy to tackle the daunting task of going through everything and separating them out of the boxes they currently reside in. definitely a funny subject to give testimonial on though

I should also say, another personal issue of mine is getting into bands over the years and obsessing over collecting the complete discography. for the time you are obsessed, you pretty much grab any/all releases with zero discretion only to later assess the discography once completed and realizing half the releases were pointless and or stupid (and you wasted a lot of time/money in the process of obsessing) DERP!
the limited pressing point is also VERY valid. you hear a teaser that catches your attention, and with the limited pressing hype game that sells releases these days, you think shit, even if I "kinda" like this, maybe I should buy now before I cry about ebay prices later. (only to get the package in the mail a few weeks later and realize you wasted your time) this seems to sadly be the case with most releases these days, and you have to spend time then trying to recoup your wasted funds, or at least come across a semi logical trade that makes both parties satisfied (also rare) most of what is coming out these days will definitely eventually be taking up space at a land fill _________________ trade-want list/available list- http://www.nwnprod.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=20339 |

I guess the upside of not having a stable income is that I really only buy my top wants when I actually have the money to buy records. There might be a few random LPs that I rarely listen to that I acquired used/on sale/through trading/etc, but probably as few as 10 and not enough to warrant any kind of purge.
On the other hand, I get a fuckton of random CDs through various means, and I don't listen to perhaps half of them on any kind of regular or even yearly basis. Sometimes it's fun to go through my boxes and pull out crap that I've only listened to once or twice. _________________ http://sethbennettillustration.blogspot.com/ - Artwork and graphic design

I think the first step towards self control is paying off>cancelling all credit cards, though now I usually just spend actual funds I shouldn't anyhow. hahahaha _________________ trade-want list/available list- http://www.nwnprod.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=20339 |

I have only ever bought one album with a Credit Card. SEPULTURA - ROOTS, that assured me never to buy an album on a credit card again. |

I don't own a credit card. The bank keeps trying to talk me into one but I don't trust myself nor my missus. Fuck it, live within your means was beaten into me as a child. Now I beat it into my kids |

i agree with quality over quantity.. but, even if 10% of every release ever made was pure quality, thats still thousands upon thousands of releases that require ownership
yea, not having a cc would help alot |

Haha Yeah, we try, but the City of Churches out-cults us every time. _________________ Witchhammer or die yourself: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/9671 |

Sold off some stuff a few years ago and totally regret it now. I find myself wanting to listen to the albums I got rid of and would actually prefer to have the album now than the money which just got blown on something at the time.
Now I dont bother to cull just because I think I should, unless I actually dont like the album. I'm happy to keep hoarding. Plus it's always awesome to rediscover something that you haven't listened to it years. Ive also found albums that I appreciate much more in retrospect than when I bought them. |

Absolutely, it's great to have a free day and run through the collection, pulling out a load of things which haven't been listened to in ages. Often, I'll rediscover something, or have a new perspective on something, and it'll get into regular rotation for a while.
I'm not desperate for the money, and I've got the space, so why bother to cull? I don't understand the desperation to get rid of things. |

Fuckheads come and go, if you're not living alone then you'll have your wife's girlfriends come over and wonder what the fuck you're doing with all that shit. _________________ Into the Menstrual Night We Go-o, Hey-Ho, Hey-Ho...
