just out of curiosity, what type of metal do you listen to the less, not at all or even dislike out of the poll (gothic and power metal not included for obvious reasons)?

for me its definitely thrash metal; i think i only have about 4-5 thrash records in my collection: dark angel - DD, morbid saint - SoD, destruction - IO and "maybe" a couple more, and i probably play them once or twice a year at most, so im definitely not a thrash metal fan

Doom metal mostly out of ignorance, and I'm still working on delving into older heavy metal as well. I cycle through all of the other genres plenty.

I listen to shitloads of death, doom and black metal. Also plenty of heavy metal, but not as much as the others (Mercyful Fate, King Diamond and Manilla Road > most of black, death and doom bands though).

Thrash metal albums I really like and enjoy listening to are about 5-10 at most.

thrash and heavy. listen to very occasionally one of the more extreme thrash records (Darkness Descends, Persecution Mania, Spectrum of Death, etc) but listen to mostly no heavy metal at all today except Mercyful Fate/King Diamond, Ghost, Maiden, very occasionally as well. just doesn't keep any interest like the other 3 genres, and as far as Doom metal goes its funeral doom/death doom, or extreme doom in general that i like.

I'll say I listen most to black and death metal and least to "heavy metal", though I consider all the options heavy metal, eh.

Out of these choices, heavy. But there are other metal genres I listen to less than that or not at all: power, folk, prog, a few others.

I'm somewhat surprised to see several responses saying thrash. I just assumed most everyone here would be at least passingly interested in it, seeing as it's the foundation of extreme metal. I still have a lot of respect for the basic Bay Area stuff though I listen to it less than I used to, but the more extreme and death metal-tinged groups (e.g. Sepultura, Dark Angel, Demolition Hammer, Morbid Saint, Possessed, later Sarcofago, Kreator, Sodom, on and on) are still things I listen to quite often, as well as recent groups that are inspired by those bands (Nekromantheon, Force of Darkness, Besieged, Hellish Crossfire, etc.).
