Obviously some strong reactions to this album.

I think it's a great record. The musicianship and songwriting is spectacular. But I can fully understand why some people can't get into it.

It's good listening.
Technical yet coherent and sustains attention.

I don't feel like picking one of these three options. It's a sub-par Death album but it's not mediocre. Always loved "Symbolic" madly and "The Sound..." is actually not too far from it.

Bahahahahaha, what? TSOP is anything BUT a "Technical exercise". On that note, I find that album ridiculously boring and they completely butchered painkiller IMO.

I can understand people not digging the album, but I have a hard time understanding how anyone could find fault with the Painkiller cover....

Worst Death for sure. Songs are too long and the vocals are extremely annoying.

Early Death is great
Mid-period Death is great
Latter day Death is great

IMO they completely butchered the solo (sorry, but if you're gonna cover a Judas Priest song, at least play the solo exactly like it was recorded in the original version) and the vocals sound godawful and basically ruin the whole song. Besides that, it just sounds so dull and flat compared to the original version, overall.
