The sound of this is pretty cool, but musically it doesn't sound like much interesting is going on. The riffs in particular are basic and repetitive in a way that makes Archgoat come off like Morbid Angel. That could be partly on the sludgy guitar/bass tone that blends every section together into soup, but I was kind of disappointed how much of that track was just hammering on 1, 3, 1, 3 or 1, 5, 1, 5... or in the middle (mandatory doooooom) section, literally just a 1 chord over and over.
I'd still be interested to hear some more from them - maybe this isn't particularly representative, I dunno. But if it is, it's a bit too primitive for even my primitive tastes. _________________

| Sample is good. It makes me think of an Oriental Grave Miasma so I guess it will end on my buying list. |

Since I have been listening to the entire ep from the last one month, I can vouch that the material has still stayed fresh and interesting and I play the ep every single day! I believe this is one of the most exciting bands to have come out from South Asia along and can be easily placed along side bands like Dying Embrace and Orator in terms of delivering high quality music!
As for the guitar drowning... I believe the band is having another go at the mastering. Ive been told by the band that this will have minimum change to the over all sound though. |
